Starlink No Internet: What to Check Before a Reset

A working Wi-Fi network only proves that your device can reach the router. Internet access can still fail between the router, Starlink terminal, cabling or the satellite service, so first identify which layer is actually offline.

Quick answer

Open the Starlink app and note the current status or warning. Check power and cable connections, then perform one normal restart if the hardware is dry and undamaged. Leave a factory reset for later, after you have recorded the original configuration.

!
Before you start

Use normal shutdown procedures, keep hardware dry and stop if you see damage, overheating, burning smells or any electrical risk.

Procedure

Checks to perform in the right order

Start with simple, reversible checks. If one step fixes the issue, stop there instead of changing unrelated settings.

01

Read the Starlink app status first

Record whether Starlink is shown as online, offline or affected by a specific alert. This preserves useful evidence before you change the network.

02

Separate Wi-Fi from Internet service

If your phone connects to the Starlink Wi-Fi but the app reports the terminal offline, the failure is upstream of the phone's Wi-Fi connection.

03

Inspect power and accessible connections

With power removed and only when the equipment is dry and safe, check that connectors are fully seated and that cables do not show cuts, severe bends, water damage or heat marks.

04

Perform one controlled restart

Power-cycle the system using the normal procedure and allow enough time for the router and terminal to boot and re-establish service before judging the result.

05

Check obstruction and service information

Use the app to see whether obstructions or service notices explain the outage. If the system remains offline, collect the alerts, hardware model and tests performed for support.

Diagnosis

How to narrow down the cause

  • Wi-Fi is visible but Starlink is shown offline: focus upstream on the router-terminal-service path.
  • No expected Wi-Fi and no normal status indication: power and hardware state deserve priority over DNS changes.
  • Wet, burnt or damaged connectors are a stop condition; do not continue power-cycling damaged equipment.

Procedures can vary by model, firmware or hardware revision. When your device differs, use the official manufacturer documentation for that exact model.
